Tip
To make sure a silk rug is really silk, take a
little piece and burn it. If it leaves a little stem, it is
silk, if it disintegrates, it is rayon.

ORIENTAL WEAVER'S RUG
A genuine oriental weaver's rug is a
handmade carpet that is
either knotted with pile or woven without pile. Area rugs
with Oriental design that are made by machine or any method
other than hand knotting or hand weaving are not considered
authentic oriental rugs.
Oriental weaver's rugs normally come from a broad
geographical region ranging from China and Vietnam in the
east to Turkey and Iran in the west and the Caucasus in the
north to India in the south. People from many different
cultures, countries, racial groups and religious backgrounds
are involved in the production and sale of oriental rugs.
Oriental weaver's rugs are organized by origin: Persian
rugs, Anatolian rugs, Kurdish rugs, Caucasian rugs, Central
Asian rugs, Turkish rugs, Chinese rugs, Tibetan rugs and
more.
